Once again Deviantart has proved its worth. I'd like to thank you all for commenting on my Subterrainean Torture pic, but it seems... wait... most of you didn't comment. Of course, I realize a lot of you have people on your watch list. I understand, though this rant also seems to apply to the entire fucking website.
It has taken my penciled out picture a long ass time to pick up reviews and even views. Great, and the second I post up my current picture... within seconds... I get 9 views. It took my ST picture a few hours to pick up that many views. Oh wait, now I have 10. I'd like to thank you Rei for your comment, cause you always comment on my works no matter what they're composed of.
What, does some colourful/shiny pic suddenly have more worth than my penciled pieces? What the hell is up with that? I make sure I comment on all sorts of pics out in the site, not just "pretty" ones that look "good". Thanks a lot people, its nice to know what kind of work I need to put up to even be commented on. And I also hope you realize I don't want you to comment on my art to boost my ego.. shit, fuck that. I need comments to tell how I'm doing and how I've improved.
I'd like to thank the deviation community as a whole for deceiving and betraying all Jark stood for and contributing to the scandal and bullshit Spyed is trying to bring to Deviantart. People want good and pretty art, so he's going to give it to us.
He's not a corporate bastard, he's just pandering to the communities whims and fancies.
Thanks everyone, and have a good evening. Next time think about those deviations you just merely erase.
Even if you don't comment on all the pics, jesus, at least comment on ONE piece of art that you like from them. I do that much for a good majority of you people. I've made 5159 comments in my time here, and I feel I can do better. Keep this in mind people. Art isn't about the most glamourous pic or the most stylish picture. They contain these things, but art is -art- no matter what. Don't let this site become a pool of "elite" artists.

Monarch of Gods and Daemons, and all Spirits
But One, who throng those bright and rolling worlds
Which Thou and I alone of living things
Behold with sleepless eyes! Regard this Earth
Made multitudinous with thy slaves, whom thou
Requitest for knee worship, prayer, and praise
And toil, and hecatombs of broken hearts,
With fear and self-contempt and barrn hompe;
Whilst me, who am thy foe, eyeless in hate,
Hast thou made reign and triumph, to thy scorn,
O'er mine own miser and thy vain revenge.

At one point in their life everyone has to face the idea that their life is purposeless. What they don't know is that this is the first step to making their life meaningful.

I am a creature of the night, and like a bat I wander in darkness casting magic.
When I'm on a good roll with my own art (i.e. when I'm actually inspired enough to make some) and I upload it here, I find I get more excited about other folks' stuff and hence I comment a lot more.
There are a lot of reasons why people may or may not comment, and not all of them are because of elitism. Sometimes I come across people who are so wound up about comments (getting angry that they don't receive enough, or those who are really OCD about how people show their appreciation (like TornExecutioner who outright hates when people favorite a work without comment. Please)...and all I can think is that these individuals are just way too serious about this place and really really need to find an additional source of self-validation.
Don't get discouraged. Just do your art. You're your own most reliable and valuable critic.

esse est percipi
I'm talking about seeing a drawing in your list, seeing that it is "mere" pencil and not even taking a look at it. But suddenly the pic is coloured and everyone is clawing their way to see it.
The only thing I'm discouraged about is the fact that this is going on, contributing to what Spyed is trying to do. People want to see the cool and "good" stuff. They aren't interested in other forms of art, and like slavering dogs they run after the "bigger" bone. I see this in society when it comes to 2-D Disney movies vs. 3-D movies. Suddenly 3-D is the "latest' thing, the coolest fad. Then 2-D will be cool because it is "retro" My ass, all art is 2-D unless you're actually carving something in real life... the screen and paper are equally flat.
I don't want more comments overall, I want people to realize that "coloured" pictures aren't all there is, and traditional mediums CAN hold a candle to digital -anyday- of the week thankyouverymuch.

Some people may see your art in pencil and see it as "unfinished" and may wait to see if you do a colored edition. Maybe putting "finished sketch" or "pencil version only" in the description may help put the period on the sentence and compell them to comment when they realize hey, this is the final image! woo!
